Defining Nudity (NSFW)

When scheduling a photoshoot, it’s important that the model and photographer understand the same meaning of terms like Implied, Partial and Nude.

These are the terms I’ll use and what I mean by them:

None

Anything from portraits to two-piece bathing suits or non-sheer lingerie.

The model is not nude.

Implied

The model uses posing or props to cover parts of the body.

The model appears to be unclothed in the images but the photographs are not revealing.

These images will generally fit community guidelines for Facebook or Instagram photos.

Partial

This could be posing topless or in sheer or wet clothing which is revealing of the models body.

Nude

The model poses unclothed, including full frontal nudity and rear shots.

Posing is not provocative or explicitly sexual.

Explicit

I don’t specifically schedule to shoot explicit images.

Experienced traveling models may have a flow and high level of comfort, though.
